Park Manager – Unicoi State Park & Lodge

Unicoi State Park & Lodge is seeking a Park Manager who is passionate about the outdoors, committed to conservation, and eager to support one of Georgia’s most scenic and adventure-rich state parks. The Park Manager plays a central role in maintaining the park’s natural resources, supporting recreation programs, overseeing campground and facility operations, and working closely with DNR, volunteers, and community partners.
Primary Responsibilities
Outdoor & Resource Management
- Support and implement natural-resource projects in coordination with DNR, forestry, and wildlife divisions
- Assist with habitat management, forest health initiatives, and wildlife-related activities
- Oversee water treatment systems and conduct water-quality testing to ensure safe and compliant operations
- Monitor trails, lakes, recreation areas, and natural features to maintain ecological integrity and visitor safety
Park Operations & Facilities
- Oversee daily operations across the lodge, cabins, campground, trails, and outdoor recreation areas
- Lead a dynamic crew of 10-15 park staff with confidence and care
- Coordinate maintenance of park infrastructure, utilities, equipment, and vehicles
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and operational policies
- Manage vendor relationships and service agreements that support park operations
Recreation & Visitor Experience
- Support the development and delivery of outdoor activities, interpretive programs, and seasonal events
- Oversee campground operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests
- Work with lodge and hospitality teams to maintain a high-quality visitor experience across all areas of the park
Volunteer & Community Engagement
- Coordinate with the FRIENDS of Unicoi State Park volunteer group
- Assist with volunteer project planning, training, and recognition
- Participate in community outreach, educational programs, and public events that promote the park’s mission
Administrative & Operational Support
- Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and financial reporting
- Maintain accurate operational records and prepare required documentation
- Support emergency preparedness and response efforts within the park
Required Qualifications
- Experience in park operations, natural-resource management, outdoor recreation, or a related field
- Familiarity working with DNR or similar state/federal resource agencies
- Knowledge of forestry, wildlife management, and conservation practices
- Experience with campground operations, recreation programs, or hospitality services
- Understanding of water treatment systems and water-quality testing procedures
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Natural Resource Management, Parks & Recreation, Environmental Science, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, or related field
- Experience working with volunteer groups or nonprofit partners
- Background in lodge, resort, or outdoor recreation operations
- Certifications related to water systems, safety, or resource management
