Position Summary:

The Property Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and service of a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems across Little Ocmulgee State Park, including Wallace Adams Golf Course, park facilities, vehicles, and grounds equipment. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations by ensuring all machinery and equipment are safe, reliable, and functioning efficiently to maintain a high standard for both park guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on park vehicles, golf course equipment, tractors, small engines

• Sharpen, adjust, and maintain mower reels and cutting units used on golf course and park grounds.

• Keep parts and shop clean and organized.

• Manage and organize the maintenance shop, tools, and parts inventory.

• Conduct safety checks and inspections on mechanical systems and equipment.

• Assist with seasonal maintenance preparations, including winterizing and de-winterizing equipment.

• Coordinate with park staff to prioritize repair needs and ensure minimal disruption to operations.

• Assist with facility maintenance and infrastructure repair projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanics or facilities maintenance preferred.

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical repair, preferably involving small engines, vehicles, and turf equipment.

• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

• Familiarity with both gas and diesel engines, as well as reel and rotary mowing equipment.

• Ability to interpret repair manuals, service schematics, and diagnostic tools.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

• Valid driver’s license required

Working Conditions:

• Both indoor and outdoor work in all seasons and weather conditions.

• Regular exposure to noise, dirt, grease, and mechanical hazards.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
